Set in leafy Regent's Park amid heritage-listed buildings and beautiful gardens, ZSL London Zoo is an oasis in the heart of the capital. Homing over 750 species, plus hosting an array of seasonal live shows and fantastic, immersive exhibits, this is an unmissable attraction right in the heart of London.

Visitors can go In with the Spiders in ZSL London Zoo’s BUGS exhibit, and experience Europe’s only walk through spider enclosure. Head down to England’s largest penguin pool at Penguin Beach and watch the Humboldt penguins dive, swim, frolic and feed, or step Into Africa and observe the elegance and grace of the giraffes from the viewing platform. Move through lush forested pathways when Gorilla Kingdom brings the African rainforest to the heart of London. And younger visitors can explore Animal Adventure – home to meerkats, llamas and aardvarks in an immersive animal experience, designed for children, by children. ZSL London Zoo has been educating and inspiring visitors since opening to the public in 1847, it’s a great family day out right in the center of Regent's Park.

ZSL London Zoo daily activities and exhibits - 1 Jan - 31 Dec 2018

All year round London Zoo provides their visitors with an array of activities and exhibits for you and your family to enjoy. From the tiger territory, butterfly paradise, and land of the lions to Europe's only spider walk-through, in with the Lemurs, gorilla kingdom and penguin beach. There are further ZSL London Zoo experiences that make your visit that much more memorable, perfect for the whole family. From Gir Lion Lodge Sleepover at the Zoo, photography workshops, junior zoo academy, be a keeper for the day and meet the animals, where you and your little ones can get up close to some of their favorite animals.

Did you know?

  • Opened in 1828 by the Zoological Society of London, ZSL London Zoo is the world’s oldest scientific zoo.
  • There are a number of listed buildings in the London Zoo and in the surrounding areas in Regents park - one of the most peculiar is the traditional grade I listed telephone box at Penguin Beach, can you find it?
  • The Casson elephant house’s roof was designed by Sir Hugh Casson, his design was to portray a herd of elephants drinking from a watering hole.
  • The much loved Winnie-the-Pooh was inspired by a real life black bear that lived at London Zoo from 1914 until her death in 1934, she was much loved by all and tame and loved being handled. You can find a statue inside the zoo.
  • The giraffe house is the oldest building in the world.

Fast-Track Entry

Please note that from 18 September, the Fast-Track Entry will only be opened at weekends and during half-term holidays. London Pass Holders should make their way to the main entrance to receive priority entry and skip the queues!
