An historic military museum with a behind-the-scenes look the Royal Household Cavalry's ceremonial and operational duties. Visit the Household Cavalry Museum free with The London Pass!

Household Cavalry Museum is unlike any other military museum because it offers a unique ‘behind-the-scenes’ look at the work that goes into the ceremonial duties and operational role of The Household Cavalry. From a glazed screen inside the Museum, visitors can view into the working stables of The Queen’s Life Guard.

See troopers working with horses in the original 18th century stables and hear first hand accounts of their rigorous and demanding training. Discover compelling personal stories, interactive displays and stunning rare objects – many on display to the public for the first time.

The Household Cavalry Museum sits within Horse Guards in Whitehall, Central London, which is one of the city’s most historic buildings. Dating from 1750, it is still the headquarters of the Household Division, in which the Household Cavalry has performed the Queen’s Life Guard in a daily ceremony that has remained broadly unchanged for over 350 years.

Don't Miss

The Changing of The Queen’s Life Guard takes place on Horse Guards Parade outside the Museum:
Monday  - Saturday: 11.00
Sunday: 10.00.
The Daily Inspection takes place in the Front Yard at 16.00 daily.

Please note: From mid-May to mid-June, due to the use of Horse Guards Parade for ceremonial rehearsals in the lead up to the Queen’s Birthday Parade (2nd Saturday in June), The Museum is closed some weekday mornings , the two preceding Saturday mornings and occasionally at very short notice at other times for security and operational reasons.

Please contact the Museum on 020 7930 3070 for current information.
