About BODY WORLDS

The creative duo, Plastinator Dr Guther Von Hagens and Curator Dr Angelina Whalley, have been opening the minds- and bodies- of everyday people for nearly 25 years. In that time, they have attracted more than 48 million visitors to over 140 cities across America, Africa, Asia and Europe. Body Worlds’ unique exhibition aims to educate people of all ages about the inner workings of the human body through preventative healthcare. As such, they aim to inspire visitors to become aware of the potential and limits of the human body and to recognise the inner- anatomical beauty of each of us.

There are over 200 jaw-dropping anatomical specimens to see. The Exhibit features real human bodies and organ specimens that have been carefully preserved by Dr Gunther von Hagens’ plastination technique. Once finished, the bodies are dry, odourless and will last longer than Egyptian mummies.

The ‘plastinates’ are positioned in various active poses around the exhibition to teach how different parts of the body are engaged during specific actions such as jumping, dancing or running. The exhibition takes visitors under the skin of the human body with visible bones, nerves, veins and organs. Visitors can grasp the effects of common diseases by comparing healthy and affected organs.

Make your way through three floors of themed galleries which tell the story of the mind, body, and soul and inspire people of all ages to adopt better healthcare practices.
