Credit crunch cows to produce at the Castle
Last Updated: Mon 1 Dec 2008

The royal herd of cows which lives in the grounds of Windsor Castle is soon to start producing cream and butter, it has been revealed.

The Jersey cows which reside at the famous London attraction will be put to this new use from next year, the Telegraphs reports.

A spokesman told the paper: "We are in the early stages of these new plans and the cows already produce milk and cream cheese…It is a case of using as much self-produced food as possible.

"We have apples from Sandringham, venison from Balmoral and vegetables from the home farm at Windsor. We try and use produce from the estates as far as possible. It is a question of utilising resources in the most efficient way."

Windsor Castle covers 26 acres and is the largest and oldest occupied palace in the world.

LondonPass holders can gain free admission to Windsor Castle, saving £14.80 for adults and £8.50 for children.ADNFCR-1693-ID-18904894-ADNFCR
