Turner watercolours come to the Courtauld Gallery

Works by one of Britain's finest watercolour painters, JMW Turner, are to go on display at London's Courtauld Gallery at Somerset House.
Paths to Fame: Turner Watercolours from The Courtauld showcases thirty of the artist's most famous works will be on display from October 30th this year until January 25th 2009, and this major new exhibition represents the first of its kind.
In addition to works already held at the gallery, the public will also be able to see specially-selected loans from other collections such as the Tate and other private collectors – the aim of which is to show the artist's progression and the development of his style through his career.
This major new show sits alongside several other excellent collections of fine art, including such notable works as Van Gogh’s Self Portrait with Bandaged Ear and Cranach's Adam and Eve.
The Courtauld Gallery is an integral of the Courtauld Institute of Art, which is one of the world's most renowned centre of art and art studies in the world. The gallery is located within the beautiful surroundings of Somerset House, a much-loved Grade 1-listed building.
