Enjoy mountain photography at the Estorick
Last Updated: Fri 29 Aug 2008

Visitors to London currently have the opportunity to view an exclusive collection of Vittorio Sella's sensational photography.

Until September 14th, those using their London Pass to gain entry to the Estorick gallery will be able to view Sella's Frozen in Time collection of mountain photography.

Born in 1859, Sella spent many years scaling and photographing some of the world's highest peaks.

Those visiting Estorick will see works including Siniolchun from the Zemu Glacier, Grand Sagne and Ecrins from the Glacier Blanc and Matterhorn from Col d'Herens.

Sella continued to photograph mountains until the age of 76 and was said to have "combined an aesthetic appreciation of the grandeur of mountains inherited from the Romantics with the technological developments of the nineteenth century."

The Estorick's permanent collection includes work by Italian artists including Umberto Boccioni, Carlo Carra and Emilio Greco.

Visitors to the Estorick Collection of Modern Italian Art can gain entry using their London PassADNFCR-1693-ID-18754524-ADNFCR
