Appeal for Children's Zoo donationsOne of the world's most famous visitor locations has appealed for donations to create a new Children's Zoo.
London Zoo in Regent's Park has launched a campaign to raise funds to build this important new addition, which aims to transform the existing facility into an innovative and inspiring exhibit.
Close contact with a variety of animal species will be a key feature of the plans. The zoo aims to open the new attraction by Easter 2009 and is looking to raise the remainders of the £2 million budget, having already secured £1.25 million.
Among the facilities that donations could help fund are a "cosy secretive den for the aardvark with secret tunnels" or "the mysterious journey to the home of the coati, red panda and parakeets".
A special draw will give benefactors the chance to win some fantastic prizes by way of thanks and anyone who contributes will be able to see the benefit their generosity will have for schoolchildren looking to learn about animals from around the world.
LondonPass holders can enjoy free general admission to London Zoo, saving £15.40 for adults and £11.90 for children.
