Published: Wednesday 1st of September 2010

Visitors planning their trips to London attractions such as Kew Gardens over the weekend can participate in a unique event launched by the mayor of the city on September 5th.

Boris Johnson launched Sky Ride, the exclusive cycling event that allows people to make the most London's sights and sounds on this environmentally-friendly mode of transport.

Thousands of tourists as well as city-dwellers are expected to join in the mass cycling event which will see enthusiasts riding across city roads that are cleared of any other traffic.

It could be the ideal way for sightseeing in London as the route will take cyclists past the Tower of London, St Paul's Cathedral, the City of London and all the way to Buckingham Palace.

Mayor Johnson said: "London is in the midst of a two wheeled revolution and Sky Ride promises to add to our aim of making the capital the epicentre of pedal power."
