Territorial Army marks its centenary

Published: Sunday 26th of October 2008

A British institution, the Territorial Army (TA) celebrates one hundred years in existence at the Firepower Royal Artillery Museum at London's Woolwich Arsenal.

The celebration will feature entertainment dating from throughout the force's history and will see members both past and active join the public to recognise the contribution that the TA has made to the nation.

TA100 is a year-long series of events marking the centenary year, which is the largest regiment in the UK's armed forces.

The Territorial Army is the volunteer force of the British Army and over the last one hundred years has provided an auxiliary force to support the force's efforts.

In recent years it has seen itself become increasingly integrated with the full force. In 2003, nearly 10,000 reservists were called upon to take part in the invasion of Iraq, where more than a thousand continue to serve active tours of duty.

LondonPass holders can enjoy free entry to the Firepower Royal Artillery Museum, a saving of £5 for adults and £2.50 for children.
