Sarah Brown helps celebrate Florence Nightingale's birthday
Published: Saturday 16th of May 2009
Sarah Brown visited the Florence Nightingale Museum earlier this week to help celebrate the world-famous nurse's birthday.
The prime minister's wife was presented with a Florence Nightingale Anniversary Rose to be planted at No 10 Downing Street.
"Florence Nightingale was an amazing woman who revolutionised nursing practice against considerable odds," she told London SE1, adding that the work of the museum was "truly fitting" to her legacy.
Mrs Brown was presented with the rose by Christine Hancock, former president of the International Council of Nurses (ICN) and director of the museum.
It was developed by Jackson & Perkins for the Florence Nightingale International Foundation, which is highly associated with the ICN.
With the London Pass, visitors to the city can get free entry to the Florence Nightingale Museum, which is located on the site of St Thomas' Hospital.
Adults will save £5.80 and children £4.80 with the pass.
