London street views launched by Google
Published: Thursday 19th of March 2009
Google has launched a UK addition to its street view facility, meaning virtually every road in London can be seen in photographs.
The 360-degree view enables people to explore the capital for themselves, which may come in handy for those visiting in the coming months.
The city's mayor Boris Johnson comments: "London's unique beauty, splendour and energy is truly illuminated in cyberspace with this superb new tool.
"It is simply fascinating, even for a Londoner like me."
Other cities throughout the UK will also be accessible through Google maps, covering 22,360 miles of roads up and down the country.
Among the 24 other cities to get the street-view treatment are the likes of Aberdeen and Southampton.
People thinking of heading for the capital themselves might want to consider getting their hands on a London Pass, which saves money on a number of top attractions.
It can also be paired-up with a travel card for an extra £7 a day.
