London attractions news: Chislehurst Caves 'regularly appear on TV'
Published: Tuesday 27th of April 2010
Chislehurst Caves is one of the most popular London attractions, but even people who are yet to visit the historic destination might have already seen its wondrous features.
That's because Chislehurst Caves has formed the backdrop of many a television series, including: Dr Who and the Mutants, featuring John Pertwee; Randall & Hopkirk (deceased); and the BBC hit series Merlin.
It's no surprise that film and production companies continue to choose the caves for key scenes, as they provide a truly spectacular vision - both on the small screen and in real life.
"Chislehurst Caves are a labyrinth of dark mysterious passageways which have been hewn by hand from the chalk," the London attraction's official website reports.
"There are over 20 miles of caverns and passageways, dug over a period of 8,000 years," it adds.
The stunning caves are a short walk from Chislehurst railway station and they are also served by the number 269 and 162 buses.
