Live Tudor cookery at Hampton Court Palace

If you are visiting London this summer then take a step back in time with a trip to the old Tudor kitchens at Hampton Court Palace.
Over the coming weeks a series of live cookery events will be taking place where visitors to Hampton Court Palace can see special "history chefs" cook up a feast "fit for a king".
The kitchens, which once fed the court of hearty-eater Henry VIII, were designed to feed at least 600 people twice a day and were once a central part of palace life boasting several master cooks.
The cookery shows will take place on August 2nd, 3rd, 23rd, 24th and 25th and are run by food archaeologists who experiment with traditional recipes, ingredients and cooking methods.
The Tudor court's annual provision of meat was 8,200 sheep, 1,240 oxen, 760 calves, 2,330 deer, 1,870 pigs and 53 wild boar.
