Kensington Palace and the Orangery becomes party palace
Published: Monday 14th of July 2008
Kensington Palace and the Orangery became the setting for a decadent party last week, it has been reported.
According to reports, Kensington Palace and the Orangery hosted the annual Midsummer party for the Financial Times earlier in July.
Kensington Palace and the Orangery in particular was decorated in pink lighting and notable sights included royal footmen and stilt-walking flamingos treating guests to a selection of sumptuous treats.
Guests included such esteemed names as Michael Heseltine, Alistair Darling and the chairman of the Commission for Racial Equality, Trevor Phillips, while the party was hosted by editor of the Financial Times Lionel Barber.
Party-goers munched on smoked-salmon blinis, oysters and pink champagne and upon their exits received luxury goody-bags courtesy of promotions girls decked out in Financial Times paper dresses.
Kensington Palace and the Orangery is also due to be popular with theatre-lovers this summer as it plays host to the Oxford Shakespeare Company version of Shakespeare's Twelfth Night.
