HMS Belfast to host BBC New Year party

Published: Monday 22nd of December 2008

One of London's most iconic visitor attractions will host a spectacular New Year's Eve party live on BBC One this year.

HMS Belfast will be the setting for the special event, which is to be hosted by popular presenter Nick Knowles and newsreader and journalist Kate Silverton.

Airing from 22:50 to 00:20 as 2008 becomes 2009, the show will feature a range of special guests including a number of Team GB's Olympic medal-winners and some great musical performances from the likes of Simply Red and Alesha Dixon.

HMS Belfast is a decommissioned navy vessel docked in the Thames in central London and is one of the most popular visitor attractions of its type in the UK.

The ship was launched in 1938 and was used extensively throughout the World War II and also during the Korean War in the 1950s.

Visitors to HMS Belfast can gain free admission with their LondonPass, saving £10.30 for adults.
