Generation Y 'are tourists of the future'

Published: Monday 30th of March 2009

London attractions could see a boost in visitor numbers in the coming years as generation Y, those aged between around 20 to 30, start to travel more, it is suggested.

Such people are technologically savvy, educated and knowledgeable about what is going on in the world, comments Avinash Lalwani, director of global financial services at airports for American Express.

He suggests that generation Y will start to travel more and could be interested in visiting sights such as London museums.

They may also be able to make their money go further when visiting London attractions, as a survey found last week that prices for hotel rooms in the capital were down by nearly a quarter in the last three months of 2008.

Hotels.com figures also show that people visiting London historic buildings and looking for hotels in the capital boosted online searches by 49 per cent.

All London visitors can save money on sights, attractions and experiences with the London Pass.
