U2 make surprise London appearance

Published: Friday 29th of May 2009

The Irish band U2 have made an appearance at a gig in London, much to the surprise of concert goers.

They took to the stage of the O2 Shepherd's Bush Empire with Baaba Maal, who was performing a concert to mark the 50th anniversary of Island Records.

Bono, the Edge, Larry Mullen Jr and Adam Clayton joined the African singer on stage to perform a version of their hit single One.

The band's front man Bono then told the crowd "we've got one more in us", before the group launched into a version of their song Vertigo.

Anyone thinking of a trip to the city over the coming weeks might want to consider the London Pass, which gives free entry to a range of top attractions.

The Royal Albert Hall is just one of the venues people can visit with no extra charge, saving £8 on the price of an adult ticket.
