Published: Thursday 8th of April 2010
The Courtauld Gallery houses a "remarkable" collection of art, those looking for cultural things to do in London may be excited to note.
It features a stunning assortment of works, including famous impressionist and post-impressionist masterpieces and an acclaimed programme of temporary exhibitions, the gallery's website reports.
The permanent collection at the Courtauld Gallery is said to be "one of the most important and best-loved in Britain", due to a phenomenal range of art dating from the early renaissance right through to modernist works of the 20th century.
Commenting on the gallery's impressionist and post-impressionist offerings, the website states: "The collection offers an array of outstanding works charting the development of modern French painting from Monet and Renoir to Seurat and Gauguin."
The Courtauld Gallery is situated amid the splendour of Somerset House, an 18th century palace on the banks of the Thames that was once home to the Royal Academy of Art.
