Things to do in London: Courtauld Gallery hosts 'sensational' Michelangelo exhibition

Published: Tuesday 27th of April 2010

Visitors to London still have chance to visit an incredible exhibition of works of art by Michelangelo, which is being held at the Courtauld Gallery until May 16th.

Since it opened back in February, the exhibition has been described by the Guardian as "sensational" and by the Daily Telegraph as a "triumph".

The exhibition is entitled Michelangelo's Dream, as the great artist's masterpiece The Dream forms the centrepiece of the show, although culture vultures will note that the exhibition by no means ends there.

Other sumptuous drawings are also on show, along with a selection of previously unexhibited handwritten poems which the artist composed for Cavalieri.

"This unique opportunity to see some of Michelangelo's finest and most beautiful drawings promises to be one of the exhibition highlights of the year," states the Courtauld Gallery website.

With a collection stretching from the early renaissance into the 20th century, and with a particularly renowned array of impressionist and post-impressionist paintings, the Courtauld Gallery is recognised as one of the most impressive small museums in the world.
