The Courtauld Gallery aids art project
Published: Thursday 26th of February 2009
Art fanatics visiting London may want to stop off at the Embankment Galleries at Somerset House, where the results of an extensive art project will be on show.
Jointly carried out between the University of Warwick and the Courtauld Institute of Art, the display will show how advanced computer modelling can help preserve works of art.
Dr Christina Young, a senior lecturer in paintings conservation, comments: "This facility has been developed over 15 years in collaboration with Imperial College, Tate and the National Gallery, London."
The display will run from March 4th to 18th at the galleries and is entitled Tensioned Fabrics in Art and Architecture.
It will include everything from canvases to model structures and even the unusual images of strain maps.
The London Pass gives free entry to the Courtauld Gallery, allowing holders to save £5 on the price of an adult ticket and 20 per cent discount in the Admiralty Deli.
