Royal Albert Hall wins prestigious award
Published: Thursday 12th of February 2009
One of London's best-loved attractions has been given the nod for a prestigious industry award.
The Royal Albert Hall, in the upmarket Kensington area of the capital, has been awarded International Theatre of the Year at the 2009 Pollstar Awards.
This important US ceremony, which this year celebrated its 20th anniversary, saw the venue come in ahead of stiff competition from the likes of Manchester's Bridgewater Hall and Olympia in Paris.
Elsewhere at the ceremony, AC/DC received a gong for Major Tour of the Year ahead of British favourites Coldplay, while British rock legend and former Led Zeppelin frontman Robert Plant's collaboration with Alison Krauss received the award for Most Creative Tour Package.
LondonPass holders can enjoy free admission to a guided tour of the Royal Albert Hall, which is a saving of £8 for adults. Pass holders can also take advantage of a ten per cent discount on selected merchandise on the gift shop.
