Popular Scottish actor reveals insights into the past

Published: Tuesday 18th of November 2008

A much-loved British actor is to delve into stories inspired by his upbringing at an event at the National Theatre on November 19th.

Inspired by his youth in 1950s Glasgow, Bill Patterson's Tales from the Back Green is a collection of vignettes reflecting working-class life and post-war society.

After beginning his career in the polemical, politicised world of Scottish workshop theatre, Patterson has established himself as one of the UK's most talented actors.

This reading and book-signing event is sure to be a treat for fans of the man himself and those who know something of the world his stories inhabit.

Shot through with austerity and warmth in equal measure, the book could well be a hit.

London's National Theatre is one of the best-known and most popular theatrical institutions in the English-speaking world.

LondonPass holders can take advantage of free admission to the National Theatre Backstage Tour, saving £5 for adults and £4 for children.
