Photographic exhibition enters final week at the National Portrait Gallery
Published: Friday 6th of February 2009
One of the most highly-regarded art exhibitions of the winter season is to enter its final week at the National Portrait Gallery this week.
The Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Prize recognises the most skilled and evocative use of this fascinating medium, specifically focussing on new artists in the field and the work of up-and-coming photographers.
Among the highlights is Viktoria by James Stroud, which invokes some of his principal concerns of tattoos and body modification.
Elsewhere, Stuart and Keith by Steve Schofield depicts two Star Trek fans dressed as Klingons while they relax at home, which delves into the fascinating relationship that British people have with American popular culture.
Perhaps one of the most famous images on display is Murdoch Reflects by Tom Stoddart, which shows the media mogul looking contemplative, even glum, with his image reflected in the pristinely-polished table at which he sits.
LondonPass holders can gain free entry to special exhibitions at National Portrait Gallery, saving £5 for adults and £4 for children.
