London to bask in 41 degree heat … in 2080
Published: Monday 8th of June 2009
The Met Office has made its weather predictions for 2080 and expects London to be baking in heats of up to 41 degrees Celsius.
The UK Climate Impact Projections suggests these temperatures will also be seen in the south-east, although the north of the country may not be quite so well off.
It predicts that towns in the north-east may be battered by storms and floods, while the capital benefits from a Mediterranean-style climate.
The West Country will have the perfect temperatures for growing grapes and sunflowers, the study predicts, which could make it a prominent wine-making region.
