London attractions: Open-air opera

Published: Wednesday 14th of July 2010

Visitors making their way to London attractions such as the Royal Albert Hall or the Banqueting House enjoyed some open-air opera during their visit to the capital.

Opera buffs made the most of the light summer evening by enjoying live coverage of Verdi's 'Simon Boccanegra', relayed straight from the Royal Opera House.

Seeing Placido Domingo take the lead role, while having a picnic at the Trafalgar Square was ideal for many families who are keen on classical music.

Travellers were also able benefit from visiting the photography exhibition hosted by the National Theatre to celebrate the pictures that made news stories in the British media come to life over the past year.

Sponsored by Canon Cameras, the exhibition is in its fifth year and is organised by the British Press Photographers' Association to recognise and reward the leading professionals in the sector.
