London 'popular with overseas students'
Published: Sunday 22nd of March 2009
London remains the most popular destination for international students, it has been discovered.
In a recent survey, conducted by Study London, it was found that in 2007/08, there were 93,000 overseas students from 200 countries studying in the capital.
Mayor Boris Johnson comments: "London is one of the few places where you can establish a global network of friends and colleagues.
"London's overseas students make a fantastic and valuable contribution to the diversity and vibrancy of life in our great city not to mention the support they give to our economy."
The figures suggest London's number of international student population equates to that of both New York and Sydney put together, with students estimated to contribute £1.5 billion to the UK's economy.
People heading to London can take in one of its greatest educational institutions for themselves with the London Pass.
Access to Eton College will be free with the pass, meaning adults save £5.50 and children £4.50.
