Film lovers get added bonus visiting London attractions in March

Published: Thursday 25th of February 2010

Film lovers visiting London historic buildings will be able to catch a movie in between trips around the capital on March 21st.

The Mayor of London has unveiled plans for a London Film Day that will promote the cinema-going experience to people across the capital.

Fifteen simultaneous World Public Premiers of Working Title Films' Nanny Mcphee and the Big Bank will be screened across the capital next month.

Ticket sales will be discounted, which will be an added bonus for those already making savings on London attractions such as Kew Gardens and the Tower of London.

This will be the first time that a world premiere has taken place simultaneously across so many cinemas.

Interim chief executive officer at Visit London Sally Chatterjee explained: "London offers a great setting for filmmaking as there is a unique mix of history, iconic locations and multicultural neighbourhoods.

"We are pleased that so many Londoners and visitors to the city will be able to take part in this unique event and experience the excitement of a world premiere."

The event will also include a series of free workshops in cinemas across the capital.

Mayor Boris Johnson's announcement comes after Visit London campaign was launched in New York, advertising the merits of a trip to the city.
