Couple cast doubt over Shakespearian origins
Published: Sunday 26th of April 2009
A couple of leading Shakespearian actors have cast doubt over whether the Bard did, in fact, write his own plays, it has emerged.
Mark Rylance and Sir Derek Jacobi made these claims at a debate at Brunel University and have both signed a declaration of doubt towards the playwright.
"With the man from Stratford, we don't know how he gathered the life experience and book learning that's very, very apparent in the work attributed to him," Mr Rylance revealed to This is London.
So far, around 1,400 people have signed the declaration, which they hope will give way to further research on the subject to determine the origins of the world-famous works.
With the London Pass, visitors to the capital can see what all the fuss is about on Shakespeare's Globe Theatre Tour, saving £10.50 on the price of an adult ticket and £6.50 on a child's.
