Carmen's coming to the Royal Albert Hall

Published: Sunday 25th of January 2009

The Royal Albert Hall is to play host to a production of one of the most popular operas of all time next month: Carmen.

A story of an alluring Spanish gypsy girl and her romantic entanglements, the production will be showing at the famous London attraction from February 26th to March 8th.

With an unforgettable score by Bizet - many find they recognise the songs despite being unaware of where they came from - audience members will be whisked away to Spain in their imaginations.

It is not the first time the production has taken place at the Royal Albert Hall; it had two widely-praised seasons in 2002 and 2005 and now returns for a short spell of 12 performances.

Two casts will perform the show, which is directed by David Freeman, with Cristina Nassif and Louise Poole sharing the role of Carmen.

While opera may not be to everyone's tastes, a visit to London must take in the Royal Albert Hall and visitors with a London Pass will be able to receive a free guided tour.
