Before the Rains at the Curzon Mayfair Cinema

Published: Wednesday 23rd of July 2008

In keeping with the inclement weather of late, visitors to London may wish to stop in at the Curzon Mayfair Cinema this summer to watch Before the Rains.

Overseas tourists can get a taste of British heritage as the film tells the story of an Englishman who intends to open a spice plantation in Kerala.

The film explores his attempts to gain the trust of local villagers and ultimately how he destroys the lives of many people in the process.

The period drama, set in 1937, is directed by Santosh Sivan and stars Leopold Benedict and Rahul Bose.

"The power that the English wield over the citizens of India can be devastating even in the mildest of cases," the Curzon Mayfair Cinema reveals.

Linus Roache stars as Henry Moores, an entrepreneur is focused on his professional goals for his spice plantation but whose path intertwines with his pretty housekeeper Sajani on a trip into the forest to collect honey.

Witnessed by local boys who relay the word back to the village, Moores finds himself at the centre of tribal customs and laws.

Visitors to Curzon Mayfair can gain entry to the venue using their London Pass.
