Twickenham 'considered for 2018 World Cup'
Published: Monday 23rd of February 2009
World-famous rugby stadium Twickenham is being considered for the hosting of the 2018 World Cup, reports suggest.
The panel have until March 2010 to decide, although Twickenham is believed to be one of those currently up for consideration.
With 82,000 seats, the venue has the capacity to cope with the thousands of rugby lovers expected at the event and is located in the south-west of London.
England only has one stadium bigger than Twickenham in Wembley, which it has recently emulated by staging rock concerts.
In recent years, the likes of Bon Jovi, The Police, U2, The Rolling Stones and The Eagles have played at Twickenham, showing its growing population as both an entertainment and sports venue.
Visitors to the capital who have a London Pass can get behind the scenes of the legendary venue by embarking on Twickenham Stadium Tours and the Museum of Rugby.
Pass holders can save themselves £10 on the price of an adult ticket and £7 on a child's.
