Things to do in London: Playsport London
Published: Friday 25th of June 2010
Mayor of London Boris Johnson has launched the new £340,000 sporting initiative as part of this £30 million project to make Londoners more sporty and active.
Visitors and city-dwellers can try out a range of sports such as tennis, swimming, rugby and football. Also on the cards are disabled-friendly activities and those suited for the elderly.
Mr Johnson said: "As we build up to the 2012 Games, we want to inspire and encourage more Londoners to get active and have a go for themselves - particularly the youngsters who could be this country's sporting stars of the future. Whatever your age, ability or proclivity, there's a sport or activity to suit, so give it a go."
Water sports enthusiasts can also make the most of this weekend at the Royal Albert Docks as the Regatta Centre hosts the London Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival 2010.
