Terry sees red as Chelsea miss chance to go top
Published: Tuesday 23rd of December 2008
Chelsea spurned a chance to supplant Liverpool at the top of the Premier League last night as they stuttered to a 0-0 draw at Everton.
A rare poor away performance – this was only time they have failed to win on their travels this season – saw the Blues both miss the chance to aggrieve the whole of a divided footballing city and lose their captain to a red card in the first half.
Terry was dismissed following a lunge on Leon Osman after 35 minutes of a physical encounter bereft of the finesse with which the west London side have cruised to dominant away victories so far in this campaign.
With current pace-setters Liverpool failing to take advantage of a struggling Arsenal side at the weekend, Manchester United having been otherwise engaged in pursuit of official world domination and an extremely credible Aston Villa side snapping at their heels a mere four points behind, Scolari's men will be rueing last night's missed chances over breakfast this morning.
Stamford Bridge is home to Chelsea Football Club and the stadium is also the venue for the Chelsea FC Stadium Tour, which LondonPass holders can enjoy for free – saving £15 for adults and £9 for children, plus a 10 per cent discount in the club megastore.
