Self-examination continues as England slump to defeat
Published: Wednesday 26th of November 2008
England suffered their worst defeat at Twickenham as they lost 42-6 against South Africa on Saturday November 22nd.
Two penalties from beleaguered fly-half Danny Cipriani were all England could muster in response to the Springbok's haul of five tries and 22 unanswered second-half points.
Reports before the game suggested that the South Africans were fatigued after a non-stop playing schedule stretching back to the last World Cup, where they beat a courageous English side in the final.
But the visitors looked fresh and lively, eventually condemning the hosts to their second defeat in the first three tests of Martin Johnson's managerial tenure.
England will take on New Zealand in the last of the current series of Autumn Internationals on Saturday 29th.
Twickenham Stadium, affectionately known as "Twickers", is the home of English rugby and can hold up to 82,000 spectators.
Established fans and those new to the game should consider a visit to the World Rugby Museum and Stadium Tour at Twickenham in West London, which offers a look back through the history of the sport from its invention at Rugby School in the 19th century to the present day.
LondonPass holders can enjoy free entry to the attraction, saving £10 for adults and £7 for children.
