Sampras returns to London with Albert Hall win

Published: Thursday 4th of December 2008

Seven-time Wimbledon champion Pete Sampras made a return to London with a win over former bad boy-turned-pundit John McEnroe at the Royal Albert Hall last night (December 3rd).

This battle of two of the US-produced giants of the game saw the younger player triumph in straight sets, 6-3 6-4, producing some trademark big serves and dynamic play.

But McEnroe, who still works hard at his fitness and maintains plenty of that fearsome competitive streak that served him so well in his playing days, put up a good fight.

As well as the scene of fantastic sporting action, London's Royal Albert Hall is a world-class music venue, hosting some of the best in classical and popular music throughout the year.

LondonPass holders can receive free entry to a tour of the venue, saving £8 for adults, with further entitlement to a ten per cent discount on selected gift shop merchandise.
