New store opens at the home of English rugby
Published: Monday 27th of October 2008
A new superstore is to be opened at Twickenham Stadium, the home of English rugby, it has been announced.
The Rugby Store will be given its grand opening ceremony on November 1st at 1000-1100 GMT, with star players David Strettle, Danny Care and Shane Geraghty in attendance.
The new store's location at the stadium means its an ideal compliment to the Museum of Rugby, which is home to some of the most important and fascinating rugby memorabilia anywhere in the world.
Fans will find it a treasure trove of artefacts and information about their favourite game, while those new to rugby will begin to understand just why it has become one of the world's best-loved and most widely-played sports.
Visitors can also take a behind-the-scenes tour of the spectacular, three-tiered 82,000-seater stadium, giving them a sense of what it might be like to walk out onto the turf in front of a sell-out crowd.
Twickenham Stadium hosted its first match in 1909 and is affectionately known as 'the cabbage patch' in honour of the original use of the ground on which is it built.
LondonPass holders can take advantage of free entry to the Museum, saving £10 on the adult price and £7 for children.
