London sightseeing: Take a trip through time at the Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Museum

Published: Wednesday 4th of April 2012

Sports fans have so many London attractions to seek out to feed their interest, with the Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Museum a particular highlight.

First gracing the capital in 2006 when the H.R.H the Duke of Kent opened its doors, the facility allows those with a love for tennis to walk through the history of one of the sport's main tournaments.

People looking to see how Wimbledon was played in times gone by should check out the Whites Of Wimbledon exhibition.

This attraction features a large collection of attires which some of tennis' biggest names have worn over the years, from garments popular in the 1880s to modern day fashion delights.

Families on London sightseeing trips are also sure to be pleased to hear John McEnroe's voice, as the tennis great leads guests through areas which are normally closed off to the public eye.

To make the experience even more exciting, people may want to delay visiting the Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Museum until between June 25th and July 8th, when the stars gather to take part in the 2012 Wimbledon Championships.
