London attractions boost prior to 2012

London attractions are set to get better in the run up to the 2012 Olympics, following the launch of a new consultation.
The London Development Agency (LDA) has launched a new consultation on the London Tourism Action Plan 2009-2013, which is intended to re-evaluate the programme in light of the current economic downturn.
Under proposals outlined in the plan, the capital is set to undergo improvements to the quality of accommodation throughout the city and extend the London Ambassadors programme to the transport network.
Audrey Slade, LDA director of business, jobs and international, explained that the capital is in "higher demand from American and European visitors" following the start of the downturn.
She said: "London is in a formidable position and the next four year period represents an unprecedented opportunity to jump ahead further as a global visitor destination.
"The 2012 Games will boost London's profile across the world."
Meanwhile, improvements to the London transport system are already underway in the run up to the Olympics.
The first part of a permanent bridge that will connect the Olympic Stadium to other parts of the development was lifted into place last week.
