London 'will not be heaving' during Olympics

Published: Wednesday 1st of July 2009

People thinking of visiting the capital during the 2012 Olympic Games may find it is not as busy as they expect, one expert has claimed.

Lee Whiteing, fleet and travel manager at HSBC, said at Business Travel Market, said the events are so spread out that the city is unlikely to become too congested.

"When you take into account the media and the people attending, you picture there will be millions of people milling around London for those couple of weeks and I don't think that will be the case," he continued.

Even during the G20 summit, some people saw London as a no-go zone, Mr Whiteing added, which they learnt was not the case.

According to a news story on Reuters, more needs to be done if the London 2012 Olympics are to leave the legacy promised when the city was chosen as Games host.
