Junior Wimbledon champion given tour wildcard
Published: Monday 13th of October 2008
Laura Robson, the 14-year-old champion in this year's Wimbledon girls single event, has been handed a wildcard to an event on the senior LTA Tour.
Schoolgirl Robson has played in three low-ranking tour events after turning professional earlier this year when she appeared in Limoges in France.
She emerged victorious at south-west London's All England Tennis Club this year as the youngest competitor in the entire event.
Her first appearance on the LTA Tour will be at the Fortis Championships in Luxembourg, in the third tier of professional competition. She will then return to the junior tour in preparation for the 2009 Australian Open in Melbourne.
Visitors to the world-famous All England Tennis club can take advantage of fantastic offers with their LondonPass: they can gain free entry to the Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Museum, saving £15.50 on the adult price and £11 off the child's price.
Plus they are also entitled to free tickets for the Wimbledon Tour Experience, giving exclusive access to the areas you don't see on television and the most famous courts in world tennis.
