Johnson's England off to a winning start

Published: Tuesday 11th of November 2008

The England rugby union team got off to a winning start in the Investec Challenge Series under new coach Martin Johnson as they defeated the Pacific Islanders 39-13 at Twickenham on Saturday.

Fielding a new-look side featuring four international debutants, former World Cup-winning captain Johnson enjoyed the first victory in his new role as the guiding force behind the national side, which he assumed earlier this year.

England will now go on to face the top sides in the world – Australia, New Zealand and world champions South Africa – in the next three tests, which will provide a stern examination of Johnson's tactical and motivational ability.

Twickenham is the home of English Rugby and one of the premier sporting venues in the country.

Hardened rugby fans and intrigued newcomers to the sport can enjoy a fascinating behind-the-scenes insight into the stadium and the game itself at the Twickenham World Rugby Museum & Stadium Tour.

LondonPass holders can enjoy free admission to the attraction, saving £10 for adults and £7 for children.
