Hotel chain to sponsor 2012 Olympics
Published: Monday 1st of June 2009
InterContinental Hotels Group has announced that its Holiday Inn brand is to sponsor the 2012 Olympics in London.
In a deal reportedly costing £10 million, the company will become the 19th firm to back the Games and is believed to be involved in sorting out logistics for the event.
The deal will see the chain give £5 million towards the sponsorship, with a further £5 million to be made available through accommodation and services in the run up to the Olympics.
Holiday Inn will be a tier-three sponsor of the event, which marks the lowest level of support under which the company is allowed to use the Olympics logo in their advertising campaigns.
Sports fans heading to London ahead of the Games can take advantage of the London Pass.
It gives free entry to a number of top sporting attractions, including Lords cricket ground and Wimbledon.
