England gear up for a real test against Wales

Published: Friday 13th of February 2009

England's RBS Six Nations campaign will shift up a gear or two against Wales this weekend and the team's performance will have to follow suit if they are to improve on their unconvincing victory over Italy in their first match.

Having already dispatched Scotland in impressive fashion, Grand Slam holders Wales are looking in red-hot form and will push England's discipline and organisation to the limit at the Millennium Stadium on Saturday (February 14th).

While the home side's IRB player of the year Shane Williams is included in the squad despite his uncertain fitness, England coach Martin Johnson will be more concerned with his own team's preparation.

Having been effectively gifted a victory in the opening 20 minutes against the Italians thanks to some slack passing and questionable selection, England's next opponents will be nothing like as generous and any victory in Cardiff for the visitors will be hard-fought.

LondonPass holders can experience the home of English rugby at Twickenham and gain free admission to the World Rugby Museum & Stadium Tours – saving £10 for adults and £7 for children.
