Chelsea player 'wants Hiddink as a permanent fixture'

Published: Saturday 14th of March 2009

Chelsea midfielder Michael Ballack has made calls for interim coach Guus Hiddink to move to the club on a permanent basis.

The team are now in the semi-finals of the FA Cup and in the last eight of the Champions League, with the player hoping for Hiddink to stay on.

"Everybody in the club and around the club can feel he is a great manager and even in a short time he has had a big influence on the team," Ballack comments.

The coach is expected to return to his role in Russia later this year, although Peter Cech would also like to see him stay at Stamford Bridge.

Under Hiddink, the team won their first six matches of the season, with the seventh ending up as a 2-2 draw with Juventus.
