Chelsea look to get back on track

Published: Saturday 31st of January 2009

Chelsea will be attempting to get their league season back on track when they host Middlesbrough tonight (January 28th) - although the big test comes on Sunday.

The London team have been faltering of late, dropping into fourth place in the league, five points behind leaders Manchester United.

However, they have a game in hand over third-placed Aston Villa, meaning if they defeat Middlesbrough at Stamford Bridge - 24 points and 14 places below them - they could leapfrog the Birmingham side.

Additionally, if Liverpool fail to win at Wigan tonight they could even find themselves in second place.

However, the big game comes on Sunday as the afore-mentioned Liverpool host Chelsea at home in Anfield, with the result likely to have a large bearing on where the league title ends up this season.
