Baroness Ford 'to lead 2012 legacy'

Baroness Ford has been appointed as the chair of the 2012 legacy delivery company, it has been announced.

Her role will be to sustain a legacy for the Olympic Games after they have left London, while helping make decisions relating to the eastern area of the city.

"Success in creating a vibrant, commercial, cultural and sporting park in the years after the Olympics with the strong engagement of local communities will be one of the most important tests of success, commented Olympics minister Tessa Jowell.

She added that Baroness Ford has a long history of achievement, which she believes will be valuable when meeting up to the challenges of the Games.

The Olympic committee is dedicated to securing a viable future for the venues used during the Games, which vary from family areas to lively urban locations.

Visitors to London can see for themselves what progress is being made, taking in a number of London attractions along the way, with many free of charge with the London Pass.
