Tower of London bids farewell to a unique employee

The Tower of London has said goodbye to a unique members of its staff this week, it has emerged.
New Zealander Patrick Nolan, who claims to the only foreign Beefeater in the 930-year history of the Tower, has retired from his position, 3 News reports.
Mr Nolan has been a yeoman for 16 years, coming to the job after serving for over twenty years in the armed forces on foreign postings all around the world.
He says he plans to retire to Tauranga, in the Bay of Plenty on the North Island of New Zealand.
Yeoman Warders – more commonly known as Beefeaters – act as tour guides and offer information for visitors at the Tower of London.
Others have specific roles to play in the running of the Tower, such as responsibility for the famous ravens.
In 2007 Moira Cameron became the first ever female Beefeater, beating five men to the post.
LondonPass holders can enjoy free entry to the Tower of London, a saving of £16.50 for adults and £9.50 for children. They can also take advantage of a twenty per cent discount in the Armouries Cafe and an audioguide for the reduced price of £2.50.
