Things to do in London: Visit the Royal Mews at Buckingham Palace

People on the lookout for memorable things to do in London might wish to take a fascinating tour of the Royal Mews at Buckingham Palace.

The Royal Mews is "one of the finest working stables in existence" and offers a variety of things to see, according to the Royal Collection website.

As the department of the royal household that provides the Royal Family's road transport, the Royal Mews is home to an assortment of state vehicles for coronations, state visits, weddings, the State Opening of Parliament and other official engagements.

Visitors are able to see the impressive range of motor vehicles and horse-drawn carriages that are used for the most glittering of state occasions.

Among the transport on show is the Gold State Coach, which was last used during the Queen's Golden Jubilee in 2002 to carry Her Majesty and Prince Philip to the Service of Thanksgiving at St Paul's Cathedral.

Visitors hoping to see this most wonderful of London attractions can do so by taking the underground to either Victoria, Green Park or Hyde Park Corner. Alternatively, the number 11, 211, C1 and C10 buses stop on Buckingham Palace Road.
