Prince William made a Knight

Prince William, the second in line to the throne, has joined the most senior order of British chivalry after he was made a Royal Knight of the Garter.
Established by Edward III in 1348, the Order of the Garter recognises people who have made a significant contribution to national life or served the monarch in some way.
William became the 1,000th member of the Order, which also include past prime ministers such as Margaret Thatcher.
Queen Elizabeth II - William's grandmother - formally installed him as a Royal Knight.
The ceremony took place in St George's Chapel at Windsor Castle.
Some 7,000 members of the public turned out to see he knights and ladies walk to the service.
Other members of the Order include the Queen's children, Princes Charles, Andrew and Edward and Princess Anne.
