Military heroes honoured at Hampton Court Palace
Published: Thursday 18th of December 2008
A prestigious award ceremony honouring the bravery of the men and women of the British military has taken place at Hampton Court Palace.
The inaugural Millies – organised by the Sun – seek to reward the actions of armed forces personnel serving in theatres of warfare around the world and were attended by a host of famous guests, including Prince Charles.
Award winners included Lance-Bombardier Ben Parkinson who was given the Overcoming Adversity award. Parkinson lost both his legs in an incident in Helmand province in Afghanistan.
The soldier dedicated the honour to a pair of colleagues who were not so fortunate, saying: "I would like to dedicate this award to Captain Jim Philippson, Captain Alex Eida and all the lads who haven't had the chance I've had."
LondonPass holders can explore hundreds of year's worth of history at Hampton Court Palace for free, saving £13.30 for adults and £6.65 for children.
